My Review | Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond FearBig Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really found this book to be inspirational and that’s a good thing since it is a self-help book on living a more creative life. I am a big believer that people can be creative vessels, visited by creative ideas and, if you are open to it, that’s the big magic. Numerous successful and prolific creatives make this claim, like Stephen King and others. The author talks about ideas visiting people – herself included – who were not ready for the idea and how the idea then visits someone else. She imagines that ideas have a will of their own. She writes about how we must do the things we love the most to have a fulfilling life, which, yes, seems obvious, but most self-help books tell you things you already know. This book provides the inspiration.
