Just like my trip with the girls a few years back, we left Mount Rushmore and headed for Hot Springs to spend the night. We had to stop the car to let some buffalo cross the road and then some deer. After dinner in Hot Springs, while walking to the car, I looked up and saw the sky covered in what I called “death clouds.” Imagine the most ominous clouds you’ve ever seen … these were worse. April 23, 2001 … My alma mater, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, asked if there was anything they could do for me. I wrote back, “Slip my name into conversations with companies calling with openings for recent graduates. It’s a sales technique used everywhere (want some fries with that?)
