Rocky Mountain Snyder Family XMAS | 16

This actually happened to me. I’m in a cab on my way to the Mirage on the strip. I see this big sign that says, “Book Tours Here.” And I think, “Oh cool. They’ve got a tour about books. I wonder what that’s all about. Man, Vegas has everything.” The car pulls forward and I see another sign … “Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours.” Oh. Continue reading

My Review | Beautiful Ruins

I loved this book, its characters, locations, themes and humor. It occurred to me that many of these feats tied together with other major world events and I wanted to know more, so I pieced together this timeline. Amundsen was a ship captain, but he was also an early adopter and learned how to fly a plane. These eras of exploration fascinate me. They were willing to lay it all out of the line. Amazing stories of courage in an amazing time of technological advances in the world. Continue reading

My Review | The Last Viking: The Life of Roald Amundsen

Roald Amundsen was the greatest polar explorer of all-time … first to the South Pole, first to the North Pole, who successfully navigated the Northwest and Northeast Passage. Shackleton’s bad luck was epic and really incomparable, but bad luck was fairly routine in polar exploration. There was a good chance that you were going to suffer and suffer for a long time and suffer to the brink of death. But there were nations lining up to explore the globe and achieve great feats. Roald was inspired as a young man to do big things. Continue reading
